SUMMARY:Musical Weekend with Peter Mack
DESCRIPTION:Musical Weekend with Peter Mack\nJanuary 11 & 12\, 2020 \nSaturday\, January 11\, 2020\n7:00pm – 9:00pm Lecture\nMarvelous Moderns and their\nNeedlessly Neglected Mid-Level Masterpieces\nIn this repertoire lecture\, Peter Mack explores mostly modern shorter works\, offering an alternative to the tried-and-true twentieth-century favorites that we hear again and again. There is a vast body of neglected repertoire out there. This demonstration uncovers unknown pieces to spark the interest of students\, teachers\, adjudicators\, and audiences alike. Most of the pieces played are of mid-range difficulty. Sections from over forty works are performed\, and there is an extensive handout in which the difficulty for each piece is assessed\, along with its publishing information. It’s a fast-moving\, fun talk. Nothing in the lecture lasts too long\, so if you don’t like a work that’s being played\, don’t worry! It will end soon\, and there’ll be something different coming along right\naway! \nTeachers will be notified of acceptance by December 16th\nThe fee is $45 per selected student. \nMake check payable to MTAC-SACB and mail to\nMillie Chiem(Treasurer)\n29338 Stonebrook Lane\nHayward\, Ca 94544 \nBoth events will be held at\nDominican Sisters of Mission San Jose (Auditorium)\n43326 Mission Circle\nFremont\, Ca 94539 \nCLICK HERE to reserve your seat for this event \nPeter Mack\nwas born in Ireland\,\nwhere he had his early training with Frank\nHeneghan at the Dublin College of Music.\nSubsequent study was at Trinity College\, Dublin\,\nand with Bela Siki at the University of Cincinnati\nCollege Conservatory of Music and at the University\nof Washington where he earned his doctorate in\npiano performance. \nMack has performed throughout the United States and Europe\, as well\nas in Australia and the former Soviet Union. He is the winner of the New\nOrleans\, Young Keyboard Artists and Pacific International Piano\nCompetitions. His prize in the Sherman–Clay competition included a\nSteinway grand piano. Mack is well known for his extensive repertoire\,\nhaving performed twenty–five concertos with orchestras. He is equally\nin demand as a performer\, clinician\, convention artist\, and teacher\, and\nhis pupils are frequent winners of local\, national\, and international\ncompetitions. \n“Mack is one of those lucky ones\, born with a completely balanced set\nof talents. He has perfect piano hands\, his technique is all but infallible\,\nhe has boundless temperament\, style and taste\, and above all\, he\ncommunicates directly…in all capacities he is indefatigable….”\n–Los Angeles Times
