DESCRIPTION:Young Artist Guild Concert\nYAG OCT2019 \nSaturday\, October 19\, 2019\, 7:00pm\nDominican Sisters of Mission San Jose\, Auditorium\n43326 Mission Blvd.\, Fremont\, Ca 94539 \nDerek Lim is 18 years old and graduated from Castro Valley High School. He studied the piano with Ji An since he was 6 years old. He has participated in masterclasses with Peter Mack and Jon Nakamatsu. He has won many awards and honors in regional\, state\, and international competitions including the 2nd place and the Audience Favorite Award at the Sturm-Page Scholarship Competition\, the 2nd place at The United States International Music Competition at Stanford University\, the 1st place at the Korean-American Music Supporters Association (KAMSA) Competition\, and the 1st place at the Golden Classical Music Awards International Competition with the honor of performing at the Winner’s Recital in Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall in New York City. He was inducted to the MTAC Young Artists Guild and was also one of the youngest finalists at the recent Dorothy Van Waynen Scholarship Competition in 2019. Derek was accepted to the Thornton School of Music at USC\, and the Claire Trevor School of Arts at UC Irvine\, with scholarship. He has received the MTAC Foundation Scholarship\, the Nadenstedt Scholarship\, the Southern Alameda County Branch Young Artist Guild Scholarship\, and the 4-year scholarship from the University of Southern California.
